Donald Trump just announced the game-changing drugs that could help beat coronavirus shortly after they were approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
During the POTUS’s Thursday briefing, he said that drugs Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine showed tremendous results in lab testing against the deadly virus. The president also said that the drugs will be available on prescription to those who are in dire need of it.
“A drug called Chloroquine and some people would add to it Hydroxychloroquine is a common malaria drug and it is also a drug used for strong arthritis. It has shown very encouraging results against coronavirus. We are going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately and that is why the Food and Drug Administration has been so great. They have gone through the approval process quickly and they took it down from many months to immediately,” Trump said.
Melania Trump’s husband also tried to comfort Americans who are worried about themselves and their families due to the number of reported deaths in the country due to coronavirus. He also provided more details about the two game-changing drugs approved by the FDA.
“Nothing will stand in our way as we pursue any avenue to find what best works against this horrible virus. The nice part is it has been around for a long time so if things don't go as planned it is not going to kill anybody. When you go with a brand-new drug you don't know that for certain and you have to see and have lots of tests. We will continue to study this drug and while we continue to study it will also be given out to large groups of people,” he explained.
However, CNN reported that Trump was wrong to claim that the FDA approved the drugs. After all, both Chloroquine and Hydrochloroquine have not been approved to treat coronavirus.
Last week, the POTUS made headlines after he enraged German politicians for attempting to pay huge sums of money to acquire a possible cure for coronavirus. The president claimed that he wanted the drugs to be available only in the United States.
