Derkack scores 23 in Merrimack’s 72-66 victory against LIU in Northeast Conference Tournament

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — Jordan Derkack had 23 points in Merrimack’s 72-66 win over LIU on Wednesday night in the Northeast Conference Tournament.

Merrimack will host LeMoyne in the semifinals on Saturday.

Derkack also contributed 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals for the Warriors (20-11). Adam Clark scored 18 points while going 6 of 13 and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line and added seven rebounds and three steals. Samba Diallo shot 2 of 5 from the field, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 from the line to finish with 10 points. The Warriors prolonged their winning streak to 11 games.

The Sharks (7-22) were led in scoring by Tai Strickland, who finished with 18 points and two steals. Andre Washington added 18 points and two steals for LIU. Tana Kopa had 11 points.

Merrimack turned a two-point second-half lead into a 10-point advantage with an 8-0 run to make it a 64-54 lead with 7:40 left in the half.
