D’Amico scores 17, sparks Southern Illinois past Evansville 65-53

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Troy D’Amico scored all 17 of his points in the second half to spark Southern Illinois to a 65-53 victory over Evansville on Sunday.

D’Amico also snagged six rebounds for the Salukis (19-10, 11-7 Missouri Valley Conference). Xavier Johnson finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Scottie Ebube hit two 3-pointers and scored 12.

The Purple Aces (15-14, 6-12) were led by Ben Humrichous’ 11 points and seven rebounds. Antonio Thomas had 10 points and Tanner Cuff scored nine.

Evansville led 26-24 at halftime, but D’Amico took over after intermission to deliver the victory.
